Don Nguyen

Welcome to my website! I am a multi-faceted music educator at Upper Merion Area Middle School in King of Prussia, PA, where I direct the 5th Grade Band, teach general music classes, and co-direct the percussion ensemble. My 5th Grade Band was honored with an invitation to perform at the 2025 Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) Annual In-Service Conference, and I was the recipient of the 2026 West Chester University Outstanding Young Music Educator Award.

In addition to music, I am also certified to teach English as a Second Language and Spanish. I received a rating of Superior for my Spanish speaking proficiency from the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. I use my Spanish proficiency not only to communicate with English Learners and their parents but also to interpret at parent-teacher conferences and translate class materials for my colleagues. In summer 2025, I taught English in Arequipa, Peru at the Centro Cultural Peruano Norteamericano.

I also frequently serve as a spreadsheet consultant for colleagues and administrators within my district and other local school districts. I design systems and spreadsheets that save teachers and administrators hours of work. I have given workshops on spreadsheets for educators for PMEA, the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), my school district, and Duquesne University. My 2024 webinar was one of NAfME's most popular offerings, attracting over 300 registrants.

I hold a B.M. in Music Education, a B.A. in Spanish, and an M.A. in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
